Default Why are slimes or goos the lowest level monsters in

many adventure video games? It seems it's especially true about Japanese games, so I was wondering if it's some kind of traditional creature, or some Japanese pop culture feature.

i think it is jsut because goo or slime is a very pitiful substance or creature if you want to call it that so they make it the easiest thing to kill

It's because the blue slime was the first and weakest enemy in Dragon Quest 1, which was the first video game RPG. Every time you see a slime as the lowest monster, that is a homage to Dragon Quest.

This is especially true of Japanese games. In Japan, Dragon Quest is huge. When a new Dragon Quest game comes out, employers give people the day off because they know employees will lay out to go buy the game. It's like Halo 3 in the US, but even bigger.

It may be true of J-RPGS, but Slimes and Ameobas can be quite deadly in Dungeons and Dragons based RPGS! Also the slime like creature that steals you're equipment in Zelda is pretty nasty.

You mean the Like Likes? I never thought of them as slimes before. They are pretty dangerous. I always think of them as living pizza monsters, lol.

J-RPGs usually include a stronger version of the slimes as well. In Dragon Quest, the blue slime is the weakest monster, but the metal slime is usually nearly invincible.
