I think the main reason the PS, Xbox and Wii are called gaming consoles it's able to be hooked up in the living room and be played right on your TV. Sure you could do the same thing with your computer, but there's the issue of hooking up a bunch of cables and whatnot.
Basically a gaming console is a small computer with limited functionality.
Nah, I don't think the PC is a gaming console. You can do pretty much anything with a PC, as with a console you cannot. Consoles only really offer minimal storage, watching DVD's and obviously playing the games.

But I always play games on my PC and that's the BEST game playing device I know of. Although you can do more than gaming.
I too play games on my PC more often than I do on consoles. Reasoning: I upgrade my computer anyway when new models come out whereas I do not think it is worth buying each and every console up to Playstation 32!!! Okay... That was a little over exhaggerated but you get what I mean!
