Viva Piñata coming to Nintendo DS
Microsoft's sending Rare's Viva Piñata franchise to Nintendo's handheld juggernaut.
Quote:
July 30, 2007 - Viva Piñata, Rare's new and original property for the Xbox 360, is headed to the Nintendo DS, the company quietly announced at Comic-Con 2007 in San Diego over the weekend.
Although no real details have filtered through, the game's apparently going to be an adaptation of the original one rather than Krome Studios' new party offering, and it'll take on a top-down perspective. Of course, it'd be a no-brainer to assume that touch screen controls will lend their suitability and be a part of the package as well.

Earlier this year, the head of Microsoft Game Studios, Shane Kim, hinted that the company would take this route with the franchise, and even went as far as to say, "A Kameo or a Viva Piñata on a DS makes a lot of sense in a lot of ways from a franchise perspective."
And, despite the lukewarm reception to the original game, Kim added, "I think it’s fair to say that we’re going to continue to invest in that property...whether you're talking about [publishing games on] mobile or the DS. You probably won't see it on the PSP, though."
Expect more soon.
