Nintendo Rules Out Price Cuts for Wii, DS
Quote:
TOKYO — Nintendo does not plan to cut prices of its popular Wii gaming console or DS handheld game system anytime soon, the company's president said Friday.
While prices for hardware is usually reduced over time, that could leave gamers who bought early feeling ripped off, Satoru Iwata said a day after the company reported record annual profits.
"I don't think that model is correct," Iwata said, despite signs that sales of the DS may be tapering off.

The Nintendo Wii is the most affordable of the three new generation consoles, so I don't see why they should lower the prices anytime soon. Seems like a good marketing strategy they have going.

Besides, everyone in and their brother wants a Wii. It's a hell of a lot better than the PS3....why should they lower thier prices? With a 'One Wii per household' rule still on the books? They can't even make them fast enough. Keep the price where it is, if they really want a Wii, they can get it shipped from Japan.
That's what my ex did. Man it was a crazy day in that house when that game console arrived...along with the japanese brawl.

I don't know if you can backup that the Wii is better than the ps3, it is different, and is finding a market that game consoles havn't previously touched.

PS3 is the best system by far, it only probably when released was the stinkish price..
Ps3 does have flaws though but can be ignored when looking at the upcoming games

Nintendo is way better than PS3/XBOX 360. But the graphics need improving but the graphics will never match the other two graphics monsters. Nintendo puts a lot of thought into their games. Nintendo is all about fun, thats why they're selling a healthy number of systems right now. Also I think $250.00 is a pretty decent price for the system. But I think the games should be lower price like $40.00 because of the graphics on some games. Smash Bros. Brawl was a graphicy game and that game should stay at $50.00. No need for price drops just yet. Maybe when the other companies lower their price then maybe Nintendo will too.
