Woman died from a water drinking contest trying to win a Nintendo Wii

Did you know that drinking too much water can kill you???
Apparently, this woman did not know. She entered a water drinking contest organized by a radio station to try to win a Nintendo Wii. The contest was called "Hold your Wee for a Wii".

Jennifer Lea Strange, a 28-year-old mother of three, was one of about 18 contestants who tried to win a Nintendo Wii gaming console by determining how much water they could drink without going to the bathroom. The show's DJs called the contest "Hold your Wee for a Wii."

Strange participated in the contest during the morning in the studio and was found dead that afternoon. The county coroner said preliminary autopsy findings indicate she died of water intoxication.

Other contestants said Strange may have ingested as much as two gallons of water. Several hours into the contest, Strange was interviewed on the air and complained that her head hurt.

"They keep telling me that it's the water. That it will tell my head to hurt and then it will make me puke," she said.

Strange won the second-place prize, tickets to a Justin Timberlake concert. She commented on the tape that she looked pregnant, and a female DJ agreed.

"Oh, my gosh, look at that belly. That's full of water. ... Come on over, Jennifer, you OK?" the DJ asked. "You going to pass out right now? Too much water?"

A Nintendo Wii is definitly not something worth dying for. A Sony PlayStation would have been a different story

I wonder how much her family is going to sue for (I know, it's sad that I assume that will happen, but it will). The radio station must have had some idea that drinking so much water could be lethal.

Who ever put on that contest was an stupid I mean your organs shut down if you drink a enough water its very dangerous to drink over 5 liters of water man I feel sorry for the parents of the woman who died the person who put on the contest is going to have a big law suite on there hands

Looks like her family have started a lawsuit. It was so predictable.

i agree with you, the radio station should not just thinking about the extreme of this competition but also safety of contestants. I hope they get enough compensation for this tragic loss.

man thats a sad happening.
The radio station too should have been careful in going to extremes in these competetions now im sute they will get sued by the family of strange .
and on part of the contestant she should also have been careful especially one should now ones abilities and overdoing aynthing always is harmful, in this case it came out to me too harmuful.

other should take notice from this incident and be more logical and watchful.
