Default Dual Processor and Dual core

Are they both same? Dual core is a growing in demand with every passing day and the one question which is on everyone's mind is what is it? How is it benefical to me? Is there any difference between dual processor and dual core?

Nope, not the seem. There's quite the difference.

Duel processors have more bandwidth available to each CPU, but the dual core model allows information to be shared more effectively between the two cores because there is less distance between the two.

As to which one is better, that depends on what you plan on doing with your machine.

Yes, they are different. Dual Core is a branded name by Intel, and is the speed of the machine, dual processors, represent a set of 2 processors.

joshb, thanks for this information since i also don't know the difference of dual processor and dual core...right now, AMD and intel already enforce on both specification.

You can get a dual core setup quite cheaply these days, yes.

If you're getting it purely for games, then it may be worth saving your money a little while as most games don't utilise dual cores properly yet. If you already need an upgrade though, its worth getting one as you will see an improvement in day to day multi-tasking stuff.

I just bought me a Dual Core and I haven't really been able to test it out yet with Multi-Tasking, but my computer does seem hella fast compared to before at least.

I wonder how much of a benefit it'll have in some games I have though, and if they'll utilise the Dual Core properly.

at this point... C2D rules over AMD solutions...

C2D x6800 or x6900 is imfact a quad core processor.. but they are very costly..

I would love to try a C2D processor.. I wish I have money to buy it..
I guess, C2D is currently the most advance processor for now..
BTW, whats the different among Core2 Duo and Dual Core?

C2D is a great processor but way too pricey in my opinion
