Default gaming hardware question

I am thinking about updating my hardware to be able to play gears of war on my pc. I want to get an amd dual core of phenom+ an asus mobo. I want a 521mb pci E video card. I have no Idea which one. I know I can't spend more than a couple of hundred $s on the card. Then a couple gig of memory. can I get away with the dual core? Maybe toward the upper end? Also what is SLI I noticed that on the ASUS board I was looking at?

Ok lets start with your first question which card to get, well nvidia and ati both have some midrange current gen cards that are in your price range all you have to do if find the right one that meets your needs for the software/ games you will be running on your rig. Also keep in mind that getting a fast processor and then a medium range card might bottleneck your computer so when your choosing a dual core find one thats about in the same range of graphics card. Also pci is express is were you can utilize two graphics cards that are connected physically by an adapter this makes it so both cards are utilized at the same time for example when playing a game so both cards will reneder the scene the outcome is bassically higher fps at higher screen resolutions.
