I used to upgrade my video card drivers to the latest version when playing PC games. Now, I just play console games so I haven't updated it for a while.

Well, I don't think I'll need to upgrade anytime soon.
My PC is state of the art.
I have a 512MB PCI Express Video Card. With this video card, I should be good for the next 5 years, at least!!!

No, by the time I bought my video card it was already on a list of cards the vendor wasn't supporting further. I'm thinking about buying another one that is more advanced in the near future.

Buy a card that is most cost effective to you at the time because there is little point in spending more money when the card will drop in price later that's why before you purchase a card make sure you know what sort of game you will be play this will help you decide what card you should get, although if you have money to burn you could buy one of the higher end cards, but be prepared at the 400-600$ price range they come in.
