What is the difference between a desktop and a

workstation? I am thinking about alienware, any suggestions.? I need lots of computing power w/ the option of using for media/games. Systems about $1500.I am a organic chemist and I need to work with molecular modeling(proteins), which requires lots of power. Just because I'm not an expert in computers doesn't mean I don't need the power!
