Default [Help] A Low End Card !!

I am buying a new PC...

Here are the specs... Its a budget PC where I would play games...

Core 2 Duo E6300
D965WH
1GB DDR2 667MHz (512x2 in dual channel)
160GB SATA2
A DVD Burner (may be Sony I think)
17" CRT LG I guyess

Now after all these with some extra like 5.1 Sound, and Keyboard / UPS etc.. I am a little low on funds,

so would like to have a GRFX card in low end...

I thought of ATI X1600 Pro 256MB model

what is your views and take on it ??

I think your thought of using ATI X1600 Pro 256MB model is also a good move, because ATI cards can support more and endure more when it comes to extreme load on the processor. So its good to go with ATI, and geforce 6600 is not a bad choice too, comparing to its price, it does an awesome job with the graphics and detail. So the choice is yours to take.

The real question these other people should be asking is do you have a pci express slot or do you still have agp. Either way getting a 6600gt is a good route as I had owned it before In the past it chugs away in most games with a steady framerate although you might want to get the 6600gt that has 256mb instead of latter 128mb. Although there are better yet video cards that are in the same price range just look at the 7XXX and 8XXX low end and the price comparison should be about the same with better performance.
