I dont know where you got your prices from but from where I am the price difference is far greater than $50 (£30) its more like $150 (£80)

around here PS3 is $399.99 and 360 is $349.99. that's a difference of $50. but once you pay your $50 for a year of live there the same price. then when you get live a second year now 360 is more expensive.

Well it britain Xbox 360's start from £149.99 which is roughly $295 at a rate of 1.9 and a playstation 3 starts from £289.99 which is roughly $570 at a rate of 1.9

so clearly you can see a huge difference. Prices are from play.com

So no ad the $60 on top for live thats still only $355 compared to a whopping $570 for the ps3!

I think it's worth the price. It is a huge chunk of change coming out of your wallet, however the PS3 offers free online gaming and can also be used to view Blue ray discs... You can get a deal on a PS3 by getting a bundle pack. Usually comes with a free game of some sort.

It is expensive but once you buy it you wont regret it at all. The games are expensive though, if they were £30 new rather than £40 it would be fine
