There hasn't been a USA civilization in the Age of Empires series yet. What you're probably thinking of are the British colonies that settled in North America within the timeframe of Age of Empires III, though, I'm not sure if the actual colonization of the American territory is mentioned in the game. Age of Empires I takes place from the Stone Age to the Classical period, and Age of Empires II occurs during the Middle Ages. The United States of America was not founded until July 4, 1776. While Age of Empires III advances into the mid 19th century with the use of steam locomotives, the United States of America never becomes available as a true civilization.
I've played Age of Empires I, II, and III, and own the expansion packs for I and II. The only Age of Empires game that I don't own is Age of Mythology. I have trouble playing AOEIII on my computer because my video card lacks hardware transformation and lighting, so I haven't got to experiment much with its take on naval battles. But I like all the games and have played them online with others.
