Default Is there a way to play Windosw PC games in Unix?

well, here's my issue. Window's sucks up a LOT of memory. I was thinking I could play them under unix which is much less memory intensive. Is there a way to load only the portion of Windows that I need to run the game and not fully start up windows?

You can run Windows programs/games on Linux with the free program below:

http://www.winehq.com/

There's also a way to run Windows inside of Linux, but you have to use VMWare which is a commercial program:

To read more about these & other methods check out the article below:

I've run VMWare on Windows, and it ran Linux pretty well. (Keep in mind that you'll need 512MB + RAM for this to work efficiently, unless the game is not that extensive).

Yeah WINE works pretty good once you set it up. There are people even using steam with it.

i think these ideas are not relevant to his question, he asked is there a way to play win PC games on Linux platform, but what VMWare does is create a new instance for Windows and run both windows and Linux at the same time, this means double load on the CPU, which will give you more worse performance than the old choice.

I don't know why anyone would want to do this.
If anything, the performance would be terrible. PC Games are meant to run on Windows.

Some games offer linix support, but why would you bother, a Unix and Linix operating system usually has windows or Mac on in to.

Ya wtf people are using WINE to run steam, thats like running a vacuum cleaner through a lake it doesn't work. But some games are getting linux support these days, btw what distro are you planning to run these games on?

You might just want to dual boot between Linux and Windows. It's not the easiest solution, nor is it the quickest, but your games will run a hell of a lot faster.
