Default Is Linux a good OS for gaming?

If yes, which distro do you suggest? And why?

They are all pretty much the same, but there's a specific distro that has some pretty good games preloaded. http://www.games-knoppix.org/

They're fixing some bug with the latest version, so come back in a few days to download the latest version, or if you just wana experiment with it, you may also download one of the older versions which are pretty good as well. I used V5.0, and it had a lot of games.

WINE does allow some Windows games to run under Linux, but its hardly ideal. If you're wanting to play commercial games, then I'd suggest sticking with Windows. If you're happy to play open source alternatives, then Linux has lots of options, but for people who want to play what their friends are playing, Windows is better.

I just started trying out Wine to play windows games, and there are some that work pretty well, but there are others that don't work at all. Kind of up in the air on what games will work well.

Oh and I have Mint atm.

Well package manager doesn't have many games which are capable of running under windows and mac. So ubuntu don't have all the games.
