I know it will be hard to tell a 11yr old kid to play non-violent games.. But Try introducing some games that can be found on miniclip.com

I recommend club-penguine.

Puzzle Pirates and Toontown Online are both very family friendly. Puzzle Pirates is probably less patronising and more suitable for an 11 year old, but my niece is 13 and still finds Toontown fun (although she would never, ever admit it publicly).

Adventure? As in the style of Myst or King's Quest?

Isles of Derek (and Nacah when back in stock) are Myst-like with no violence.

Interactive Parables is low violence - you can get squished by a big shoe or fall through thin ice, but the game just flashes a screen saying "oops" and you get start over from your last save.

Give more details on what you are looking for so we can make better suggestions.

Also, boy or girl? My daughter likes the horse and pet games that are out there.

Tim

Yeah Mario, Sports games (eg. Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, etc.) and Simpsons games like Hit and Run and Road Rage, they might be a bit old and boring in our eyes but kids love them!
